The head of Congo, Denis Sassou Nguesso, expressed on Monday his concern about the potential start of "war" in the country. Nguesso stated that recent signals regarding the strengthening of security in strategically important areas, including airports and ports, are a sign. "We must be ready for any challenge, any threat," Sassou emphasized. He also called for increased vigilance and awareness in the context of the escalating conflict between armed groups in the region.
In recent weeks, there has been an increase in tension in several provinces of Congo, where armed groups are vying for control over territories and resources. Under the actions of armed groups, not only military objectives are hit, but also civilian inhabitants.
